Combine all liquid ingredients, except egg, and add. Beat until dough forms a ball. If necessary, knead in additional flour to make dough easy to handle. Divide dough into 12 pieces. Roll each into a 10" rope, coil rope, tucking under end. Place 2" apart on greased baking sheet, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes. Brush tops with egg and sprinkle with poppy seeds, sesame seeds, or more crushed rosemary.
